Greening Australia Building
Norman Park , Queensland, Australia
1998-99
Description
The brief was won in a limited design/construct competition to design and build (in conjunction with a prominent builder) a building that would house the rapidly expanding activities of Greening Australia Queensland. The Queensland GA headquarters building had to incorporate the executive as well as work station space for the varied field operation of Greening Australia as well as an education and training facility.
Design and Construction
The building was considered as a large hall with annexed rooms and service located to the aisles. The hall is day-lit with generous clerestory south lighting and vented to open for summer night purging of the daytime heat from the building. The surrounding land has been used by volunteers to showcase native fauna, natural landscaping and stormwater management.
